About the artist
Lea Guldditte Hestelund (b. 1983 in Esbjerg, DK) is a visual artist educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, 2015, DK and Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, 2012-13, DE. Hestelund often creates physical fictions unfolded in installations and interdisciplinary collaborations, where the sculptural body can be literature, scent, or music. She is currently working on a large scale public piece for Køge University Hospital, commissioned by The New Carlsberg Foundation and due to be installed in 2025-26.
Hestelund has been awarded the Aage and Yelva Nimb’s Foundation’s honorary grant and the Estate Ferlov Mancoba’s honorary grant in 2020. In 2018, Hestelund received the 3-years working grant given by The Danish Arts Foundation.
Amongst others, Hestelund has had solo exhibitions at Aldea-Center of Contemporary Art, Design, and Technology, Oslo, NO, Eduardo Secci Gallery, Florence, IT, and Overgaden - Institute of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen, DK. She has participated in group shows at Art Sonje Center, Seoul, KR, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, DK, Copenhagen Contemporary, DK, Arken Museum of Contemporary Art, Ishøj, DK, The National Museum in Szczecin, Poland, Fused Space, San Francisco, US, and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, DK. Hestelund is currently part of the group show Des exploits, des chefs d’œuvre [Feats, masterpieces] at FRAC Sud, Marseille, FR.
